October 27, 2023 —  Faculty of Law alum L. Kerry Vickar [LLB/1980] got to witness a return on his investment in-person on September 26 when he visited and officially opened the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic. The gift he had given to the Faculty of Law had transformed a dingy basement storage room into a state-of-the-art experiential learning clinical space for law students to learn hands-on, the practice of business law.

October 27, 2023 —  Recipients have demonstrated excellence and a strong commitment in the areas of research, clinical practice, education, leadership, and advocacy for improvements to patient care, and/or physician and student well-being.

October 27, 2023 —  Phill, a graduate of the Asper School of Business MBA program, is the founder and CEO of My Student Wellbeing, an online platform where university students can access virtual counselling sessions with qualified therapists. A former social worker who gained business knowledge and skills in his MBA, Phill strives to make mental health services more accessible for students.

October 27, 2023 —  The St John’s college residence is a diverse place filled with students from all over the world. From Malaysia, India, Africa, and other countries worldwide, the students feel at home when they walk into the building.     We caught up with Dean of Residence Matthew Bowman as the college looks to fill available rooms with January 2024 and Summer 2024 students looking for accommodation.    

October 27, 2023 —  Video: Go behind the scenes to learn more about the Hamilton Family Fonds, one of the most visited collections in the UM Archives and Special Collections and is the foundation for The Undead Archive exhibition.

October 26, 2023 —  On September 2, 2023, UM researcher and retired professor emeritus Dr. Ronald R. Marquardt passed away at the age of 88.

October 26, 2023 —  The College of Nursing’s PhD program entered its 10th year this term with a cohort of seven students. The program has graduated 14 students since its inception, including six who are currently faculty members in the the college.

October 26, 2023 —  This fall, the Faculty of Law welcomed alum Allison Fenske [LLB/2007] to the role of Clinical Counsel. In addition to assisting the University of Manitoba Community Law Centre’s Director with supervising students, Fenske is teaching Gender and the Law, and working on the development of an international human rights clinic.
