Registration Access Time

• Monday, June 10: Students in Bannatyne Programs (Dentistry, Dental Hygiene (excluding Direct Entry), Medicine, Pharmacy, Respiratory Therapy, and Graduate students for Master of Occupational Therapy, Master of Physical Therapy, or MPAS).
• Friday, June 28: All Students in Fort Garry and Bannatyne Programs.

To view your registration time

1. Log into Aurora.
2. Select the “Open Registration Dashboard” card.
3. Select ‘Registration Time and Status’.
4. Choose the Academic Term from the dropdown menu to see your registration access time.

Important Notes

• Once your registration date and time arrive, you will have 24-hour access to the system until the final registration date for that course.
• You can register on weekends, but no registration times will be assigned during weekends.
• You can also view your registration eligibility information, such as Holds, Academic Standing, and Student Status.

Eligibility Indicators

• Green Checkmarks: You are eligible to register.
• Yellow Caution Symbols: You are not eligible to register; any caution symbol will prevent registration. Contact your advisor for help. 

Confirm Program and Major Information

• Ensure your registration overrides have been entered by an academic advisor.

REGISTERING FOR COURSES

Registration access times for students at the Bannatyne and Fort Garry campuses will be available in your Aurora account on March 25. To view your registration time:

1. Log into Aurora.
2. Select the “Open Registration dashboard” card. 
3. Select ‘Registration Time and Status.’

Choose the academic term from the dropdown menu, and your registration access time for the selected term will be displayed.

The initial registration period runs from April 1 – April 4 (9:00 am-11:59 pm daily). On your designated registration date, you will have until 11:59 pm CST to register.

Registration will be closed April 5 – April 7, reopening on Monday, April 8 at 9:00 am CST you will have 24/7 access until the last date to register.

IS YOUR ACCOUNT ON HOLD?

It’s a good idea to check if you have any holds or if your student status prevents registration. Make sure you remove any holds before your date to register.

REVISION PERIOD

In the Summer Term, the last date to drop a course and the last date to add a course are the same date. To help prepare, please take note of these important deadlines found on the Summer Term section of the Dates and Deadlines page.

The part of term schedule breaks down the dates for summer courses based on when they run (their part of the term). Review the table below to familiarize yourself with the summer part of term dates.

Notes

Waitlists for Summer Term will open on April 8, at 9:00 am. CST. It is very important that all students claim their UM email account and keep it in good standing to receive waitlist notifications. Once waitlists are open, waitlist notifications are enabled 24/7 until the last day to register.

If you want to switch waitlisted course sections, please contact an academic advisor. You may not be able to switch sections when a course has a waitlist.

If you miss the deadline to register for a waitlisted course you will need to re-register for the waitlist.

• Bison Athletes, students authorized for early registration with Accessibility Services, President’s Scholars and Leaders of Tomorrow begin registering Monday, July 13.
• New students begin registering Tuesday, July 14.
• Returning students begin registering Thursday, July 23.

Student ID Cards: Information regarding your student ID card will be sent out the week of July 13.

Fall and Winter Term Course Delivery

Most Fall term courses will be delivered remotely. It is possible that Winter term courses may be similarly structured. Your computer or device, and Internet connection should meet the UM Student Connectivity Recommendations (PDF).

If a course is delivered remotely using a video conferencing platform, you may be required to install University approved software on your device and you may be required to have and use a webcam. During videoconferencing, your personal information, in the form of your name, image, and any questions or answers you pose during classes, may be collected under the authority of The University of Manitoba Act. The information you provide will be used by the University for the purpose of supporting student learning. Exams for remotely delivered courses may be invigilated online. If your exam is invigilated online, you may be required to install University approved software on your computer and you may be required to have and use a webcam while taking the exam. During proctoring, your personal information, in the form of your name and image may be collected under the authority of The University of Manitoba Act. Your personal information will not be used or disclosed for other purposes, unless permitted by The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). If you have any questions about the collection of your personal information, contact the Access & Privacy Office (tel. 204-474-9462), 233 Elizabeth Dafoe Library, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 2N2. If you have any questions regarding your online lectures or exams, please contact your instructor.

Winter Term courses have been scheduled and may be viewed in the 2021 Winter Term Class Schedule. Unless otherwise noted, Winter Term (Part B) sections of term-spanning courses will continue to be delivered in the same format as Fall Term (Part A) sections.

It is uncertain at this time how other Winter Term courses will be delivered. The teaching delivery method for those courses may be adjusted based on updated public health information and directives. Further details will be available in Fall Term.

Returning Students: Limited Access does not currently apply to students previously subject to this restriction for three consecutive terms. You will be able to register to repeat a course (or equivalent) during your initial registration time, but you will see a warning indicating you have already taken the course. You do not need permission from your faculty to repeat a course.

Waitlists: Some courses will have a Waitlist, allowing students to be added to a waitlist and notified when a space becomes available. It is very IMPORTANT that all students claim their U of M email account and keep the account active to receive Waitlist notifications. Check your U of M email often.

You should know that you will not be able to

• register in a course and go on a waitlist for other sections of the same course
• go on a waitlist for a course that has a time conflict with a course you are already registered in.

You must choose whether to register or go on a waitlist.

Registering

1. Log in into Aurora Student, from the ‘Enrolment and Academic Records’ tab, click on ‘Registration & Exams’, then ‘Registration Time and Status.’
2. Choose the term you want to verify your eligibility for from the drop down menu.

Once it is your registration date and time, you will only have that day to register until March 26. Beginning March 27 at 1:00 p.m. you will have 24/7 access until the last date to register.

The Summer Term Limited Access Term Expiry Date is Tuesday March 31, if you wish to repeat a course taken in Summer Term 2019 and later.

Revision Period

In summer term, the last date to drop a course and the last date to add a course are the same date. To help prepare you, please take note of these important deadlines found on the Registrar’s Office Summer Term registration page.

Waitlists?

Waitlists for  Summer term will open on March 27 at 1:00 p.m. It is very important that all students claim their UM email account and keep it in good standing in order to receive Waitlist notifications.

Students wishing to drop or change a lab must see an advisor to make the changes or else they run the risk of losing their space and ending up at the bottom of the Waitlist.
