<p dir="ltr">He said hailstorms generally are poorly reported, especially in Alberta.</p>
<p dir="ltr">&#8220;Hail is a fairly localized phenomenon,&#8221; he said. &#8220;If there&#8217;s nobody there to either see it or people just tend not to report it, then it&#8217;s rare for us to know exactly what happened.&#8221;&nbsp;</p>
<p dir="ltr">For now, researchers have typically relied on weather radars to predict where and when hailstorms crop up. But it&#8217;s not a foolproof method.</p>
