Exploring the Periodic Table: Computational Chemist awarded $300K Discovery Grant for chemical research in green energy and high-performance materials
December 4, 2017 —
Georg Schreckenbach is a man who knows how to take advantage of an opportunity. Good thing, too, since he was recently awarded a $300,000 NSERC Discovery Grant. Not only will this money allow the computational chemist to fund four students in his lab, but to feel secure in the knowledge that his work will be adequately supported for the next several years.

National Geographic Society funded expedition leads to discovery of two new plant species
November 27, 2017 —
“Plants, and especially the discovery of new plant species, don’t often generate a lot of interest. I read an article about a new species of rat that eats coconuts and that made the BBC website.” Ford goes on with a chuckle: “So I can’t compete with coconut-eating rats, but I think the species we are discovering are just as spectacular.”
