A University of Manitoba researcher is the recipient of the prestigious Barancik Prize for Innovation in Multiple Sclerosis Research.

Dr. Tara Horrill, assistant professor at the College of Nursing, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, was first drawn to research about a decade ago, while working as an oncology nurse at CancerCare Manitoba.

Dr. Netha Dyck’s position of Dean, College of Nursing in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences has been extended until January 31, 2025. She has been in the position since 2018.

Since joining the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences in the role of Ininiw scholar, Margaret Hart has been working toward a complete rebuild of the occupational therapy program to incorporate Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing.

A research team at UM is conducting the first study in Canada to assess whether participating in a novel 12-week “psychoeducational skills class” helps to reduce suicidal thoughts and behaviours in adults who have made a recent suicide attempt.
