CIHR supports UM researchers in quest to curtail rheumatoid arthritis in Indigenous populations

A Rady Faculty of Health Sciences research team was awarded $1.6 million dollars from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) for a multipronged project focused on rheumatoid arthritis in First Nations people that will include a clinical trial to see whether the combination of turmeric, omega-3 and vitamin D can reduce the risk of the autoimmune disease

Couple shares honour at Indigenous awards ceremony

For two recipients of this year’s Indigenous Awards of Excellence, the award had an added significance, as they were able to share their achievement with their spouse. PhD student Amanda Fowler-Woods Community Health Sciences and associate professor Dr. Melinda Fowler-Woods were both recipients in student and faculty categories respectively.

Pharmacy student-led study identifies link between IBD and substance use disorder
