Research Manitoba has announced $3.8M in research funding to support recipients of the Manitoba COVID-19 Rapid Response Grant Competition and eight Manitoba clinical trials related to COVID-19 and applied health research.

Dr. Meghan Azad, associate professor of pediatrics and child health at the Max Rady College of Medicine has been named as winner of the 2020 Joe Doupe Young Investigator Award by the Canadian Society for Clinical Investigation (CSCI), an Ottawa-based organization that represents young health-care researchers across Canada.

While the Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry’s undergraduate clinic will look different when it reopens to patients on September 8, the same high-quality care the dental students, and their supervising faculty members, provide will remain the same.

On Tuesday, August 25, 2020, the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences’ Faculty Executive Council (FEC) approved the RFHS Disruption of all Forms of Racism policy, the first anti-racism policy to be passed by any faculty or post-secondary institution in Canada.

Max Rady College of Medicine student Jakob Weirathmueller has received a Canadian Medical Hall of Fame (CMHF) Award.

Two research scientists from the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences are part of a major international study designed to determine the effects a pandemic has on pregnant mothers and infants.

August 24, 2020 — 
Medical students in the bachelor of science in medicine (B.Sc. (Med.) program showed great resilience this summer in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of the learners had to modify their research or take on a whole new project because of reduced capacity in laboratories and temporary lab closures.

Wearing masks is now recommended in schools in Canada and the United States, for example, so it is imperative to look for solutions that mitigate the negative social, relational and physical effects on students and teachers.

Student interns in Prairie Indigenous Knowledge Exchange Network (PIKE-Net) this summer, had a slightly different experience than they would have had any other year, due to the office closures and social distancing measures that came with the global COVID-19 pandemic.
